Swim Diaper

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Babies love to splash and play in the pool.  More parents are bringing their babies to the pool to splash and play.  A good time in the pool can be ruined if your baby has an accident.  Therefore, a Swim Diaper offers excellent protection for your baby to avoid embarrassing accidents.  In addition, some swim locations will require your child to wear a swim diaper due to kids having accidents that will result in a costly cleanup.

There are two main types of a swim diaper:  reusable and disposable.  Each one has its advantages and disadvantages.  The reusable swim diaper is more expensive but tends to be more economical in the long run.  Plus, for the environmentally conscious individuals, it is gentle on the environment.  Some reusable swim diapers are made from similar materials as bathing suits so they can be washed and reused.   The disposable swim diaper tends to be more practical.  However, they can be easily torn or ripped.  They come in packs and can be disposed of after use.

A swim diaper can come in various colors and designs.  Normally, a swim diaper will have snug fitting legs and a waistband or a drawstring so no small accidents will escape into the water.  They are not absorbent so water will not pull the baby down.  However, it being designed not to absorb water makes it so that it will not hold urine and only trap poop.

A swim diaper is an excellent choice for protection when taking your baby to splash and play in the pool.

Diaper Pail

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Disposing of dirty, stinky diapers is a constant chore.  Therefore, choosing a good diaper pail for your disposable diapers can be a challenge.  Diaper pails are one of the most frequently used baby products.  And, they’re many to choose from.  You will want to choose one that will do an excellent job at obliterating the smells of the waste your child will place inside their diapers.

Some parents will place a used diaper inside of a grocery bag and place it out for disposal.  However, they will begin to smell in whatever area you decide to store the dirty diapers until your trash can be picked up or disposed of.

A diaper pail is your best option for storing dirty diapers until you can permanently get rid of them.  There are a lot of options when purchasing a diaper pail.  Diaper pails are nice and can be discreetly placed into a  corner of your room.  They will also do an excellent job in concealing odors and are very easy to use.  They normally come with a hole on top of the diaper pail and covered by a lid.  Just place the dirty diaper inside of the diaper pail hole and close the lid.  It is that easy to use.  They will normally hold about a week’s worth of diapers before the diaper pail will need to be changed.

Before you purchase a diaper pail, decide what features are important to you and conduct your research based on that.  I wanted a diaper pail that could completely eliminate odor.  And, there are many that claim to do so.  Just be careful of the ones that over state any claim.  Seek advice from friends and family member that have used a diaper pail and ask them for suggestions.

Best Cloth Diaper

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

What is the best cloth diaper?  That question can be difficult to answer and will depend upon what features that are important to you.  First, you will need to decide on what’s that most important features for you then you can easily narrow down what cloth diaper is best for you and more importantly, your baby.

If convenience is what you want, elect to buy the all in one cloth diaper.  They go on the same way as disposables.  The downside to the all in one cloth diaper is that they tend to be the most expensive option.

However, if you are concerned with price, you may elect to go with the prefold cloth diapers and covers.  Prefolds are rectangular and easily folded to fit your baby.  You can use a diaper cover to aid with the prefold to help keep in moisture.

Just ensure that what ever you consider the best cloth diaper for  purchase that you keep your baby in mind.  The baby’s comfort is an important element.

You can learn how to make a diaper cake by reading this post and viewing the video at the bottom of this post.  You can use your diaper cake at baby showers or give as a gift to a friend or relative.

First, decide on what type and style of diaper cake you would like to make.  You can search the Internet for a variety of different types of diaper cakes to model or take ideas from.  Once you have an idea of what your diaper cake will look like, you can begin to prepare for its design.

Retrieve all the materials and items needed for you diaper cake.  The common items for diaper cakes are baby diapers, pins, ribbons, baby toys and etc.

Decide on how many tiers you want your diaper cake to be.  However, you will need to start with the first tier.

Roll each diaper into a cylindrical manner.  You will have to use a rubber band to hold them together.  Assemble the rolled diapers into a round shape and tie them with a ribbon.  Repeat the process for each tear using a less amount of diapers per each tier.

Connect the other tiers by pins.  Finally, you will need to decorate the diaper cake.  Use your imagination and be creative.  Use the Internet to get ideas.

Here is a video of how to construct a diaper cake.  It is a slightly different variation of what I explained above.  But, it will give you a visual of how to put one together.
