Diaper Rash Treatment

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Diaper Rash Treatment will result from your baby receiving a diaper rash.  Diaper rash is a common occurrence amongst babies.  Once a baby gets a diaper rash, it can be characterized by red and irritating looking skin on your baby’s diaper area.  The skin can also be a little puffy and warm.

Babies skin are soft and delicate and can easily become inflamed.  Therefore, the most common causes of diaper rashes are wetness on your baby’s skin from urine or from laundry detergent used to wash your baby diapers.  Even if your baby is wearing a super absorbent diaper, that type of diaper doesn’t matter if you’re not frequently changing your baby.  Also, when your baby’s pee mixes with bacteria from its poop, it will create ammonia on your baby’s skin.  Therefore, ensure to frequently change your baby no matter the type of diaper your baby is wearing.

There are other things that can cause diaper rash.  However, the above is just the most common forms that cause it.

For diaper rash treatment, keep your baby’s bottom area clean and dry.  Clean the infected area with lukewarm water.  Use a soft towel and pat dry.  There are diaper rash creams that you can purchase to rub on your baby’s infected area.  You may have to try a few different ones until you find the one that works for your baby.  There are many that don’t work for your baby.

Make sure you consult with your pediatrician if you have any questions regarding diaper rash treatment for your baby.

Baby Diapers

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

There are many different baby diapers to choose from on the market today.  Choosing the best baby diapers can be difficult, time consuming, and require some investigative work.  Typically, babies normally spend the first few years of their life in diapers.  Therefore, it is paramount that you put a lot of thought in choosing the best diapers for your baby.

On your quest for searching for baby diapers, purchase a small pack first so you can see if it works for your baby.  If you buy a big pack, your baby may not like them.  The look of the diaper can been ideal for a parent.  However, your baby may differ.  Therefore, purchase a small bag to see how your baby will like them.

During the experimental stage of having your baby wearing the new diapers, pay close attention to your baby’s skin.  If your baby has sensitive skin, the baby could react badly to the new baby diapers.  Doctors widely recommend “hypoallergenic disposable” diapers for babies with sensitive skin.

Go for the reputable diaper brand for high quality.  Make sure it offers a great level of dryness and absorbability without compromising the protection needed for your baby’s skin.  Also, don’t buy cheap especially if you or no one seems to know about them.  Compare prices and look at reviews online.  Online research can be very beneficial prior to walking into the store and making your purchase.

Only choose the best for your baby.  Baby diapers are a daily necessity.  Make sure you choose the best for your baby to make your baby happy.

Biodegradable Diapers

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Biodegradable diapers are diapers made of a cloth shell.  The diaper also comes with a  biodegradable liner that will allow you to flush it down the toilet.  The liners can also be used as fertilizer.  Biodegradable diapers do not emit any toxins as they decompose.  Unlike disposable diapers, biodegradable diapers will disappear in approximately 50 days as opposed to 5 years or longer.

For parents that are environmentally conscious, the benefits of biodegradable diapers are numerous.  Not only can a parent do their part in saving mother earth, the diapers are very inexpensive and help in the prevention of diaper rash.

Biodegradable diapers come in various colors and are more comfortable than a disposable diaper for your baby.  Before you purchase these diapers, as usual, conduct your normal Internet research first so that you get the best deals.

Reusable Diapers

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Reusable diapers are very cost effective.  The average baby uses approximately 8 diapers a day during its first year.  That equals out to approximately 2,900 diapers a year.

As you can see, using disposable diapers can be very expensive.  Also, if you add up the gas money it takes going back and forth to the store for the disposable diapers, wipes, and other items associated with it, it can add more to your budget.

Reusable diapers can cut the cost down substantially during your baby’s first year.  Sometimes, the cost savings alone is enough to convince parents to use reusable diapers unless you can get disposable diapers free.  Reusable diapers are an excellent alternative if you are on a strict budget.

Many parents elect to use reusable diapers due to taking their part on the environment.  Reusable diapers are proven to be environmentally friendly.  However, by using reusable diapers, you will increase your wash load.  And, if you have other children, you will wash a few loads of clothes a day.

Since the majority of reusable diapers are made from cotton, purchase the ones that are organically grown.  When you purchase organic reusable diapers, they will not have chemicals.  Cotton requires chemical fertilizer and pesticide more than any other crop.  It also depletes soil nutrients and minerals more than any other plant in the world.

Reusable diapers are easy and very cost effective.  Remember, if you decide to go with the reusable diapers, elect to purchase them organically.  Conduct an Internet search.  You can purchase about a dozen good high quality prefold cloth diapers for approximately the same amount as a pack of disposable diapers.

How To Change Your Baby’s Diapers

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

If you are a first time parent, it can be a joy and sometimes very intimidating.  Changing your baby diapers shouldn’t add to your stress.  To become proficient at changing your baby diapers, it will require some practice and organization.  During the time your baby will be in diapers, you will surely get enough experience at changing your baby.  However, it is important to learn the correct way to change your baby’s diapers.

First, get organized.  Prepare and position all the supplies you will need prior to beginning to change your baby diapers.  You must never leave your baby unattended if you have forgotten anything and intend to retrieve it.  Therefore, collect your new diaper, baby wipes or wash cloth, baby powder, and lotion.  Also, make sure you change your baby diapers in a safe place.

There are different ways to change your baby.  Some parents, normally mothers, prefer to change the baby on their lap.  Other parents like to use a changing table or mats.  I prefer to lay the baby down on a clean surface.  If you like my method, ensure you lay the baby on a clean towel or table.  If your baby is anything like mine, they will begin to protest loudly.  Therefore, try to keep the baby still.  You can do so by distracting the baby with some music or other toys and objects that catch their eye.  Or, try changing the baby after a nursing session.  The baby will tend to be more relaxed and apt to allowing you to change their diaper.  When you remove the baby’s diaper, use a baby wipe or wash cloth to remove the urine or stool.  Ensure to gently move the legs around so that you may clean into all the skin folds.  Always dry your baby off after a changing.  Never leave your baby wet.  It may cause an infection later.

Place the used diaper to the side and get a new one.  Place the new diaper under the baby and fold the diaper upward between the baby’s legs.  Make sure the diaper is attached properly.  If you are using cloth diapers, you can also use a diaper cover to ensure moisture doesn’t leak from the diaper.

Check to make sure the diaper isn’t on too tightly by seeing if you can stick two of your fingers in the front of the diaper.

Immediately wash your hands after changing your baby diapers.  Changing your baby diapers is a dirty process.  But remember, while washing your hands, never leave your baby unattended because your baby may roll.

Now, be prepared to change your baby’s diaper again in about two hours.

Always frequently change your baby to keep the baby clean and dry.  Keeping your baby clean and dry will avoid diaper rash.  That being said, it is not necessary to change your baby each and every time your baby urinates.  Every two to three hours is fine.  However, make sure you change your baby the first chance you get after your baby makes a bowel movement.  A bowel movement can irritate the skin if left on too long.

Changing your baby diapers isn’t difficult.  Normally, the baby is concerned with other distractions and won’t be still so that you may change the diaper.  Use the baby’s toys that will keep the baby’s attention so that you may change your baby.  The key is keeping the baby still so that you may change the diapers.

Organic Diapers

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Organic Diapers are diapers made from organic cotton, hemp, or wool.  These materials are not bleached or chemically treated.  No pesticides are used on the cotton plants.  By being organic, it is supposed to be less likely to irritate a baby’s sensitive skin.

Many parents are starting to go organic.  Organic diapers come in a variety of shapes, styles, and sizes.  They will cover the baby to the baby’s liking.  The most common ones are thick in the middle with extra layers.  The extra material is folded to shape the baby.

Other than being easy on a baby’s skin, many parents choose the organic diapers cause of the diapers being environmentally friendly.  Disposable diapers help in increasing the landfills waste.   Clogging landfills are a problem.  Some parents like to take their part in the environment by going organic.

Diaper Rash

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Diaper rash is a skin inflammation that mostly occurs when a baby’s skin reacts to continuous wetness.  The wetness can be from urination, diarrhea, moisture, or dirty diapers.

Normally the first sign of a diaper rash is the baby reacting negatively or crying when being wiped or when their diaper gets changed.  Upon inspection, you may notice your baby’s bottom red in the affected area.  The skin can progress to blisters and tiny ulcers.

Most diaper rash creams will remedy the situation.  However, ensure you thoroughly clean the baby’s affected area.  Using soap can cause the baby discomfort.  Keep the diaper off the baby as much as possible to make the area moisture free.

The above two steps will make most diaper rashes disappear.  However, if it gets worse, seek assistance from a pediatrician.

To prevent diaper rash, make sure you keep your baby clean and dry.  Infections love moist and warm environments.  You can also sprinkle baby powder on the baby’s bottom to help keep the baby dry.

Detergent and commercial baby wipes can also be the culprit in causing diaper rashes.  Some baby’s skin can be sensitive to those.  Therefore, if a diaper rash occurs, pay attention to what happened leading up to the rash so that you may ascertain its cause.  If it is the detergent or commercial baby wipes you use, discontinue its use and seek products that are sensitive to a baby’s skin.

If these tips doesn’t help your baby in preventing diaper rashes and they continually occur, seek your pediatrician for advice.

Pampers Swaddlers Diapers

I have read a lot of online reviews regarding pampers swaddlers diapers.  According to a lot of these reviews, it is considered the top of the line in baby diaper products.  It is know for its strength in quality and leak protection.

Pampers Swaddlers Diapers comes with stretchy Velcro.  If you have a very active baby, or if your child has discovered how to unfasten a diaper, the Velcro design makes it easier to adjust if you need to refit the diaper.

Friday, January 15th, 2010

There are numerous diaper brands and companies on the market.  However, in my opinion, there are only 3 brands that are the best diapers around.  They are Pampers, Huggies, and Luvs.

Pampers are labeled as my number 1 choice on my best diapers top 3 list because they have been around for a little of 50 years.  Pampers also maintain a leadership role in the diaper industry due to its other innovative products.  Pamper products also come in different variations and constantly evolve with the times.

Huggies comes in as a close second on by best diapers list.  They have also been innovative over the years in their evolving new products to meet the needs of the constantly changing baby.  A few of their benefits are they provide a more natural comfort fit and reduce in diaper rash.

Last but not least is Luvs on my top 3 best diapers list.  They back their products with a satisfaction guarantee.  They also have diapers with great leak protections.  Some of the benefits of Luvs are, they are soft to the touch, smell fresh, and are very absorbent.
