Diaper Pail

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Disposing of dirty, stinky diapers is a constant chore.  Therefore, choosing a good diaper pail for your disposable diapers can be a challenge.  Diaper pails are one of the most frequently used baby products.  And, they’re many to choose from.  You will want to choose one that will do an excellent job at obliterating the smells of the waste your child will place inside their diapers.

Some parents will place a used diaper inside of a grocery bag and place it out for disposal.  However, they will begin to smell in whatever area you decide to store the dirty diapers until your trash can be picked up or disposed of.

A diaper pail is your best option for storing dirty diapers until you can permanently get rid of them.  There are a lot of options when purchasing a diaper pail.  Diaper pails are nice and can be discreetly placed into a  corner of your room.  They will also do an excellent job in concealing odors and are very easy to use.  They normally come with a hole on top of the diaper pail and covered by a lid.  Just place the dirty diaper inside of the diaper pail hole and close the lid.  It is that easy to use.  They will normally hold about a week’s worth of diapers before the diaper pail will need to be changed.

Before you purchase a diaper pail, decide what features are important to you and conduct your research based on that.  I wanted a diaper pail that could completely eliminate odor.  And, there are many that claim to do so.  Just be careful of the ones that over state any claim.  Seek advice from friends and family member that have used a diaper pail and ask them for suggestions.

Best Cloth Diaper

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

What is the best cloth diaper?  That question can be difficult to answer and will depend upon what features that are important to you.  First, you will need to decide on what’s that most important features for you then you can easily narrow down what cloth diaper is best for you and more importantly, your baby.

If convenience is what you want, elect to buy the all in one cloth diaper.  They go on the same way as disposables.  The downside to the all in one cloth diaper is that they tend to be the most expensive option.

However, if you are concerned with price, you may elect to go with the prefold cloth diapers and covers.  Prefolds are rectangular and easily folded to fit your baby.  You can use a diaper cover to aid with the prefold to help keep in moisture.

Just ensure that what ever you consider the best cloth diaper for  purchase that you keep your baby in mind.  The baby’s comfort is an important element.

Diaper Rash

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Diaper rash is a skin inflammation that mostly occurs when a baby’s skin reacts to continuous wetness.  The wetness can be from urination, diarrhea, moisture, or dirty diapers.

Normally the first sign of a diaper rash is the baby reacting negatively or crying when being wiped or when their diaper gets changed.  Upon inspection, you may notice your baby’s bottom red in the affected area.  The skin can progress to blisters and tiny ulcers.

Most diaper rash creams will remedy the situation.  However, ensure you thoroughly clean the baby’s affected area.  Using soap can cause the baby discomfort.  Keep the diaper off the baby as much as possible to make the area moisture free.

The above two steps will make most diaper rashes disappear.  However, if it gets worse, seek assistance from a pediatrician.

To prevent diaper rash, make sure you keep your baby clean and dry.  Infections love moist and warm environments.  You can also sprinkle baby powder on the baby’s bottom to help keep the baby dry.

Detergent and commercial baby wipes can also be the culprit in causing diaper rashes.  Some baby’s skin can be sensitive to those.  Therefore, if a diaper rash occurs, pay attention to what happened leading up to the rash so that you may ascertain its cause.  If it is the detergent or commercial baby wipes you use, discontinue its use and seek products that are sensitive to a baby’s skin.

If these tips doesn’t help your baby in preventing diaper rashes and they continually occur, seek your pediatrician for advice.
